Out of the swamps of Louisiana by way of the Oklahoma dustbowl and Carnaby St., The Ukes of Hazard are a unique blend of suave incompetence and dexterous intent all presented on the smallish, four stringed phenomenon that is the ukulele. Ron Kjestrup and Terry Telford are The Ukes of Hazard
Ron Kjestrup and Terry Telford are The Ukes of Hazard, a country influenced, fast picking duo from Appleby, Nelson. The U of H stretch the possibilities of the smallish, four stringed phenomenon that is the ukulele. This isn’t your usual uke fare of cheesy covers of pop songs. Known as giants in their field (and not because they ate all the pies) this Appleby duo play an eclectic mix of surprising pop choices, country swing, orginals and obscure covers all presented with a twist of humour (ok – they play a couple of cheesy pop songs, as well). You can tap your toes, sing along and dance to this entertaining duo or just sit back and wonder how on earth Terry gets such a great solo sound out that funny little instrument.
