With less than two months until MarchFest organisers are making it even easier for national visitors to join locals at this iconic Nelson Event.

The music and beer/cider line-up for the fifth MarchFest is now finalised!

There is a distinct British flavour to the entertainment line up with name act Alabama 3 and stand-up poet John Cooper Clarke both featuring. Alabama 3 Acoustic and Unplugged (the 4-piece version of Alabama 3) will be doing only four shows in New Zealand and Marchfest is their only South Island gig. The band is famous for its soulful, high-energy live performances and also for the song "Woke Up This Morning" which plays over the opening credits of the hit US TV series ‘The Sopranos’.

Local company onCue will once again be co-ordinating event sponsorship, food stalls, ticketing, kids activities and much more at Marchfest 2012. Co-organiser Mic Dover said “it was great having onCue involved in 2011, it meant that the whole day ran so much more smoothly.”

Friday 28 October

The annual invitation to the region’s craft breweries has gone out and several breweries have already accepted the MarchFest challenge.

The theme for this year’s Craft beer and music event is “Special Ingredient”. The organisers of MarchFest have asked brewers to temporarily throw the famous Bavarian Beer Purity Law* out of the window, by choosing a secret added ingredient for their Marchfest brew. The brewers have also been asked to choose a name for the new beer that cryptically gives a clue to that ingredient.

Monday 26 September

Negotiations with acts for Marchfest are in their final stages.
Currently provisionally booked are UK punk poet John Cooper Clarke,
Watussi from Australia, The Julia Deans Band, Auckland's Drab Doo Riffs and
Nelson's The Immigrants.

Wednesday 7 September

Marchfest is pleased to announce that Nelson City Council has agreed once again to provide sponsorship funding, delivered through the Nelson Events Marketing and Development Programme (NEMDP), which is intended to help develop distinct events that will bring economic benefits to Nelson City by attracting visitors in the shoulder and off peak seasons.

Wednesday 7 September

Local design and web development company HotHouse have been chosen as Marchfest’s preferred suppliers for the next Marchfest and beyond. Previously these aspects of the event were handled by Timaru sponsors Verb Software and Yellow Design.
